Queensland Australian Government pledges A$8m for bariatric surgery in bid to tackle obesity

Severely obese Victorians will have greater access to potentially life-saving weight loss surgery, with the state government providing $8 million to fund 200 extra weight-loss surgeries a year.

Obesity is a major health problem in Victoria, with 17 per cent of adults obese and another 55 per cent of people overweight.
